Windows xp reinstalling problem... somebody help me asap...?

there was something wrong with my pc b4 i started reinstalling it. the wmp doesn't work, search companion missing, i cant access my camera, i cant open myadobe photoshop and whatsoever. so i figured the best solution is to reinstall it. however, when i tried it (after making sure that my previous files aren't affected), the screen prompted me for the so called filter driver disks. i googled it and tried out the solution they gave me (which is to press cancel and be patient). now, my pc is running 24/7 without any progress at all, and is stuck at the frame time 33 mins left. what am i supposed to do? somebody.. plz help me.. my works are in danger...
