What if I scratched my flat-topped oven?

Will the burners still work properly? I had quite a mess and had to use a scotch-brite sponge scrubber to get the mess up. After wards I noticed that some of the speckled markings on the burner were smudged off a bit. That shouldn't effect the cooking capabilities should it??
